Best Practices for Applying Commercial Disinfectant

In July, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated guidance on mitigating the spread of COVID-19 considering the more contagious Delta variant, which is responsible for the rapid increase in cases nationwide. In addition, the CDC reinforced the importance of protecting yourself and preventing further spread.

The agency recommends wearing a face mask, washing your hands often, maintaining a six-foot distance from others, and frequently cleaning and disinfecting your facilities. The latter can be accomplished using a commercial disinfectant found on the EPA’s List N.

With a demonstrated 99.9999% log kill rate, Decon7 (D7) is on the EPA’s List N, meaning it is proven effective at killing COVID-19 and other microorganisms. In addition, the “EPA expects products on List N to kill all strains and variants of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) when used according to the label directions” (EPA, 2021).

How to Apply Decon7

To ensure the best results, clean frequently touched surfaces, then disinfect using Decon7 commercial disinfectant. Make sure to always follow the directions on the label to ensure safe and effective use of the product, regardless of your preferred choice of application methodology. D7 can be applied to nonporous surfaces as a foam, fog, or spray. The label will include safety information, mixing instructions, and the minimum recommended contact time.

Food handling and storage environments such as school cafeterias, processing plants, grocery stores, restaurants, and more must use a potable water rinse when sterilizing food-contact surfaces to promote safety. As this shows, no two facilities are alike, which is why it is an excellent idea to create a cleaning and disinfecting checklist based on your business’s unique requirements. Additional applications in which Decon7 can be used include but are not limited to the following:

  • Biosecurity
  • Defense and public safety
  • EMS, fire, and police stations
  • Sports and entertainment venues
  • Facilities disinfection (e.g., fitness centers, educational facilities, office buildings, medical/dental offices, hospitality, etc.)
